Fat Girl’s Guide to Fitness
Written by R. A. Stewart
If you are a girl of a fuller figure and you are keen to make changes to your lifestyle then read on; some of the stuff here may or may not be of use to you.
This article is not about fat shaming you or making you feel as though you are less of less value than someone who is skinny. I know siblings who are are of different body types, one is fat and the other is skinny; the fat one does not eat any more than the skinny one. It is just that they have their particular body type. As J. F. Kennedy once said, “Its an unfair world.”
It is important to accept what you cannot change and change what you can change.
You may have no control over your body type but accepting it is a choice you make.
This does not mean that you should just live an unhealthy lifestyle and then claim its not your fault that you are fat.
Forget about setting weight loss goals and instead focus on living a healthy lifestyle. This means becoming more active and eating healthy foods. Let your weight take care of itself.
How you feel about yourself is an important factor in developing a healthy lifestyle. If you suffer from a low self esteem you will be in no frame of mind to take care of yourself. Have you heard of the term comfort-eating? Someone who does not like themselves will pig out on junk food in front of the telly.
When you make changes to your lifestyle it does not have to be completely cold turkey. Just one change per week will be sufficient to make a difference. That is 52 changes you have made in one year.
Become more active
Only you will know what you are physically capable of doing but if you have never tried an exercise program before then you have to start somewhere. The important point is making a start.
Even walking around the block once or twice a day is a start. Some towns and cities have walking clubs if you want some company to walk with.
Other types of exercises you could try are cycling, dancing, and swimming. Choose something which you enjoy.
Find others who are on the same journey as you who will encourage you along the way.
People who are making changes to their life will sometimes be the subject of criticism and ridicule depending on the maturity of the people they associate with. Anyone who feels good about attacking others are just displaying their own insecurities. People can be cruel.
Thankfully, people like that are in the tiny minority.
